A finished site for a twenty-year-old cleaning business. Then the film opens the WordPress Plugins page. Two items. No booking plugin, no form plugin, no slider, no calculator, no page builder — on WordPress's own default theme.
At a glance · the proof is what is not installed
One plugin in. A whole business out.
A service business needs booking, quoting, a media comparison slider and lead capture.
The normal answer is four or five plugins, a page builder and a premium theme. Each one is a licence, an update cycle and a conflict waiting to happen. The stack grows every year and somebody has to keep it alive.
This build is the counter-argument, and it is made by opening the Plugins page on camera rather than by asserting it.
The booking wizard is the part that would normally take a plugin. Seven steps — what you need, how big the space is, how often, and when — with the price building on screen as you answer. It reaches an itemised $335 before anyone has to call you.
Alongside it: ten services under one standard, and a pricing page that gives you the number before rather than after. Flat rates quoted up front, the same team every visit, a twenty-four hour redo guarantee. A drag-handle before/after comparison, reviews, an FAQ and a contact form. A real person answers the phone, and the hours are printed next to it.
All of it survives the phone — the slider, the wizard, and the price that builds as you answer.
The before/after photograph is a placeholder, and the caption on the page says so. Not a footnote in a handover document — printed in the caption, where a visitor would see it, until real job photos arrive.
That is a small thing that matters. A before/after slider on a cleaning company site is exactly where stock imagery gets quietly passed off as the company’s own work.
The technology list is the point of this build — it is what is not installed.
Do I need booking, form and slider plugins to get these features?
Not here. The booking wizard, price calculator, before/after slider and contact form were all built as native WordPress widgets. The site runs on two plugins in total.
Does WPOS need a premium theme or a page builder?
No. This site runs on WordPress’s stock default theme with no page builder installed.
Does an interactive build like this work on a phone?
Yes — the slider, the seven-step wizard and the live price all work on mobile, and were checked there.
