Cookie Policy

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as local storage, pixels and scripts that load from other companies, work in much the same way, and this policy uses “cookies” for all of them.

This policy explains the cookies used on wpos.ai and in the WPOS app, why we use them, and how you can control them.

When you first visit wpos.ai, a privacy banner explains what we use and lets you choose.

• In the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, nothing optional runs until you choose. You can accept everything, reject everything, or pick categories, and rejecting is as easy as accepting.
• Everywhere else, analytics and marketing cookies are on by default. You can opt out at any time with Do Not Sell or Share or Cookie settings.
• Outside the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, if analytics is off, because you turned it off or your browser sends Do Not Track, we still count visits without cookies: Google Analytics receives cookieless signals through Google Consent Mode, and PostHog counts visits without storing an identifier on your device.
• If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, marketing cookies stay off. If it sends Do Not Track, analytics and marketing cookies stay off unless you turn them on.
• We use your device’s time zone, not your IP address, to decide which of these rules applies. If we can’t read your time zone, we apply the EU rules.
• Your choice is stored for 6 months, after which we ask again.

Necessary: needed for the site and the WPOS app to work securely, for example keeping you signed in and remembering your privacy choice. These are always on.

Analytics: help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. This covers session replays, which record clicks, scrolling and page changes with anything you type into form fields masked.

Marketing: measure our advertising and help us recognize which companies visit, so our team can follow up. Under some US state laws this counts as “selling” or “sharing” personal information.

Necessary

• wpos_consent (WPOS) — remembers your privacy choices. 6 months.
• wpos_authed (WPOS) — set by the WPOS app while you are signed in, so this site can link to your workspace.
• Theme preference (WPOS, local storage) — remembers dark or light mode.
• WPOS app session, sign-in and security cookies (app.wpos.ai) — keep you signed in and protect against cross-site request forgery. From the end of your browser session up to 30 days.
• Hosting and security (WP Engine and Cloudflare) — may set cookies that protect the site from abuse and deliver it quickly.
• Video player (Wistia) — plays our product videos. Without analytics consent it does not send viewing statistics. The player may report technical errors to its error-monitoring provider, Sentry.

Analytics

• Google Analytics 4 (Google) — visits, traffic sources and page views. Cookies _ga and _ga_*, up to 2 years.
• PostHog (PostHog) — product analytics, performance timings, on-site surveys and session replays with form fields masked. Cookie ph_*_posthog, 1 year.
• WPOS Insights (WPOS, our own analytics on this site) — shows us which pages, buttons and forms don’t work well and how fast pages load: clicks, repeated or unresponsive clicks, scrolling, browser errors, loading speed and whether forms were sent. It records page addresses without their query strings; on the first page of a visit it also notes the site you came from (its domain only) and any campaign tags in the link: utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign and utm_content. It doesn’t record what you type or store your IP address: to count unique visitors without cookies, it keeps a one-day code made from your IP address and browser with a random key, and both are deleted within two days, so visits on different days can’t be linked. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, your visit is counted but no ids are set. Local storage wposi_vid recognizes repeat visits with a random id, renewed after 13 months; session storage wposi_sid lasts until you close the tab. A record of each visit is deleted after an hour if nothing went wrong, otherwise after 30 days; daily totals are kept for 400 days. The data is stored on the server that runs this site and isn’t sent to any analytics company.
• Wistia viewing statistics (Wistia) — how our videos are watched.
• Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft, in the WPOS app) — session replays and heatmaps. Cookies _clck (1 year) and _clsk (1 day).

Marketing

• Meta Pixel (Meta, loaded through Google Tag Manager) — measures our ads and the sign-ups they bring. Cookie _fbp, 90 days.
• Website visitor identification (script from mm-uxrv.com, with identity partners aisiteanalytics.com, LiveIntent and usbrowserspeed.com) — matches visits to business contact information. Cookies such as mmuid, _li_dcdm_c, _lc2_fpi and _li_ss.

• Cookie settings: the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page lets you change your choices at any time.
• Do Not Sell or Share: the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link turns marketing cookies off immediately.
• Browser signals: we honor Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track as described in section 2.
• Browser settings: most browsers let you view and delete cookies. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the site or the app from working.

When you withdraw consent, we delete the analytics or marketing cookies this site can reach and reload the page so those scripts stop running. Cookies that other companies set on their own domains can be removed in your browser settings.

Some US state laws, including California’s, treat giving data to advertising and identification partners, such as Meta and the visitor identification service above, as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out at any time with the Do Not Sell or Share link or a Global Privacy Control signal. Our Privacy Policy explains your other rights.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for regulatory reasons. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date.
